    New member from central Maryland

Greetings, everyone ... I waited too long to start kilt wearing. At age 66 I hope to have many good years to come!

I bought two kilts from the Scottish Kilt Shop and have worn both of them -- cargo style with pockets, one green and one red. The green one scarcely seems to be noticed ... but the red one might have been an impulse choice on my part, since it gets attention! I am a hiker and have worn each one for several miles on four different days in the past couple of weeks. Unfortunately, we have winter here and the temperatures are closer to the freezing mark right now -- but they will rise again and I will be out. I've hiked over a thousand miles so far this year.

I live in Columbia, MD between Baltimore and Washington DC, but a lot of my hiking is in more rural areas. Not all, however, since Columbia has 94 miles of asphalt paved trails and I use them a lot. My younger wife accompanies me some of the time, though she is not into kilts at the moment. I have a bit of Irish blood but primarily German.

I would love to be in touch with others in my general area.

Well met new friend. I've got to say that many of us (over 60 yr. old) enjoy our kilts for various reasons. You'll discover your own. I don't live near you but there are several members that do and I am sure you will enjoy their company. Look for the rest of us here on the forum. Welcome.
