Hi All,
I am a member of Kennedy Clan. Need advice on a Kennedy Modern kilt fabric that is comfortable in hot weather. PV seems a good choice. Any sources?
Thank you, David Rummler

Welcome to the forum from Western Canada!
PV in a 5 yd kilt is a great choice for hot weather.

Welcome to the "Great Rabble"!
Wool. Always wool. I've worn 16 oz wool kilts when it is 95+ Fahrenheit in high humidity. The only part of me that got very warm was my belly where there are two layers plus all of the structural items cinched tight against me. Wool is always the best choice in my opinion. The others are plastic of various types. Would you wear a plastic garbage bag cinched tight on a hot day?

Welcome from central South Carolina.
The good polyviscose comes from Marton Mills. I don't recall seeing a Kennedy tartan in PV.
However even down here at latitude 34, I wear 8-yard and 5-yard wool kilts almost any time of year---though I do treasure those 5-yard PV's. Your personal thermometer and skin tolerance for wool may vary, of course. I also wear my wool/wool blend kilt hose year 'round. I feel the heat most around the waist, where the kilt is fitted closely. The legs benefit from the natural airflow.
If you can't find a different fabric, a 5-yard kilt in heavyweight wool is surprisingly adaptable and a fairly economical way to get started. Again, your mileage may vary. From personal experience in southern Indiana, I'm sure you have temperature and humidity to spare in the summer!
If you have a group of cousins interested in PV, you may get a kiltmaker to special-order your tartan. It takes quite a few yards to make it worthwhile for the mill, but it has been done. Our friends at USA Kilts got Marton Mills to make a run of MacGregor about 12 years ago, and apparently the mill still keeps it in stock.
