Hello Everyone!
I finally took the plunge and went from silent observer to an active member of these forums. While I have been following these forums for some time, the impetus for joining was when I learned about Barb T's Kilt Kamp.
I started wearing a Kilt as a Piper a little over 2 years ago, and absolutely love it. I've found it to be much more comfortable than trousers, but I haven't yet taken the plunge to convert to kilted daily wear.
From my name, you may have guessed that I'm also a pilot. My interests are wide and varied, with many different hobbies. I have restored vintage fountain pens which I love to use, and am currently restoring some vintage Straight Razors.
I have some Scottish background, coming from the Fraser name. From genealogy research this far, I suspect it was the Frasers associated with the highland clan rather than the lowland family.... More clarification needs to be done.
I've just finished reading Barb T's book, and am excited to dive headlong into the world of kilts, and to be part of this wonderful community that is XMarks.
I'm from the Victoria, BC area, and though I haven't yet visited Steve's shop, it certainly is on my list to make it there one day.
Cheers,
Jason

After Scotland, Vancouver Island is my favourite place on earth. Whether visiting Steve's shop in suburban Victoria or cousins in Sooke, Cobble Hill and Nanaimo or friends in Courtenay, I love the island and would visit much more often if it was not such a long journey, Air Transat from Glasgow to Vancouver then the ferry. I used to fly single engine Pipers and Cessnas but I was never a professional Pilot.

Welcome.
Beware on entering Steve's shop. First, you need time. There is no "a quick drop in". Second, you need to curb the impulse to purchase all at once the quality items there.
The second point is managed by making repeated visits

Well met Jason. Another craftsman among us is always welcome. You've up the ante with piping and sewing that will certainly cover a lot of member interests.
All I can claim is multi-leveled social butterflying. Glad to have you with us.
