New to the site amd new to Kilts.
Greetings all. I have always admired the classy looks of a formal Kilt outfit so I finally pulled the trigger on a nice Prince Charlie outfit. The Tartan I chose to go with is Black Watch. I am sure I will get many answers but my big question is what color Hose should I wear? Thanks for any help.

Welcome from Colorado.
For kilt hose color, go with a color you like. Some people like to go with a similar color to one of the main colors on the kilt while others go for a contrasting color. Many people avoid the white or off white hose. There is a wide selection of hose colors available for you.
The Prince Charlie (abbreviated PC) is a formal jacket about the equivalence to a tuxedo. If you wear your PC to a non formal event you will look over dressed for the occasion, yet it will go perfect for any formal event. Often time people go for an Argyll or Braemar jacket for normal day wear.

As I am sure you will see, there are many answers to this seemingly simple question. A bottom line answer is to wear what you think looks good. A little more detailed, but still simple answer is as follows...
There are some basic schools of thought here.
First, wear hose that matches one of the colors in the kilt.
Second, wear a color that compliments with the predominant color (or any color) in the kilt. For example, your black watch is blues and greens, so anything in the blue pallet (blue, light or dark blue) or green pallet (light or dark or plain green, yellow (since it is used to make green) or orange).
Third, wear a color that contrasts with the predominant colors in your kilt. Orange is the complement/opposite of blue so it could work. Red is the opposite of green so it might work. See if it looks good to you. You can also go with different shades (light or dark) of these colors.
Fourth, and my preference, is to think of your outfit as a suit of clothes and the kilt is the necktie. With most kilts you can get away with wearing the same color for the top (shirt or vest or jacket) and for the hose. If your PC is black then you could wear black, any shade of gray. You could also go with dark blue or dark green, but that fits with the second option above. If your jacket or vest is a different color from black then pick one that looks OK with the kilt and match your hose to whatever you are wearing on top.
Options One and Four are the easiest to go with, IMHO.
