New in Texas
Sorry if this gets long winded, I do enjoy writing. ;)
I've been reading the board for a while and finding the answers to most of my questions. I decided to join to ask a few questions I did not find the answers to. Im sure they are out there, I just did not find them.
I just recently bough a kilt, my wife has been after me to buy one for some time and I finally broke down and got one. Ill say here that I am told I have a thing for clothing. Truth is, it is hard to find stuff that fits well and as such when I do find something I tend to buy several. So I have lots of cloths and enjoy looking my best.
I did some research before buying a kilt and ended up with a 13oz Acrylic / Wool blend 5 yard kilt in black. I really wanted the woodland camo utility kilt but every one I found was made to size with no adjustments. The fact that it was not adjustable is the only reason I did not order one. As I mentioned earlier finding stuff to fit tends to be hard so I was not holding my breath. Measured at the appropriate point I am a 49" so I ordered a 50" kilt. It adjusts 1" up or down so pulled in all the way on the straps it fits but if I loose more weight Ill have to get something else. lol
When It arrived I had to try it on. Straight home from work so I was wearing a white button up shirt, black kilt, and dress socks with black leather dress shoes. I have to admit, it looked good and the wife and daughters loved the look. I bought it for casual wear and this was more of a dressed up look. So I went to see what outfits I would make with it for a casual look. That was when I realized that all my t-shirts were ether black or camo and black on black tends to not look good in my opinion. I also noticed I needed a belt for it so I was back to shopping. lol
I picked up a new belt, a kilt pin, and a belt pouch. I did not like the sporrans I found and they all seem a bit much for casual wear. The belt pouch I found reminded me of an old leather ammo pouch from WWII, it was new with a Celtic knot design on it. I also picked up some new shirts that will go well with the kilt.
I have had no end of trouble finding "hose" and shoes to go with it. I have sneakers and my dress shoes but most pictures show the person in what looks to be hiking boots. Having a shoe size of 13EEEEE makes finding shoes very difficult, I did find and special order a set of boots. Will have to wait and see how they look. As to hose, I am up for pointers from anyone who may know where I can get a good set of hose in large sizes.
Im still putting the look together, so it is a work in progress. Special thanks to all the threads on what works and what does not work with a kilt. They have been very helpful!

Welcome from Waco. Always great to see another Texan join.
As far as the hose, there are several threads here on where you can find hose for larger calves.
As a EEE foot myself, with large calves it is difficult.
Where in Texas are you?
