Greetings to all on this forum!
I have been Googling kilt wearing questions and many of them are answered here.
A couple of weeks ago, my long-time girlfriend and I decided to get hitched (after 12 years, I finally need to show that I can commit). We chose 10/31 as the date (easy to remember, and we both love the fall), and decided I'd get kilted up, for the occasion.
Given the short lead time, it became apparent that a custom made kilt was out of the question. I thought about renting an outfit, but for little more than double the rental cost, I was able to purchase a formal outfit from one of the X Marks Partners. My company is having a formal Christmas party this year, so that would be my 2nd rental anyway.
Yes, it's an off-the-rack kilt outfit. Luckily I am mostly an off-the-rack sized guy.
The more I learn about kilts from this forum, the more I think a custom kilt is in my future. I am looking forward to learning more about the traditional garb of my ancestors from folks here.

Welcome! Nice to see another Hoosier here. I live just a tad north of you in Muncie. Been kilting about a year now. I love it. As does everyone else here. By the way, are you aware that the Indianapolis Scottish Society (or something like that) is hosting Scottish games and festival this coming Saturday, 10 October at German Park on south Meridian. Look it up. Bet you and your sweetheart would enjoy it immensely.
Again welcome.

Glad you are enjoying Xmarks. Something you may have noticed is that we love pictures. By all means, post a photo of yourself in your new ensemble when you get it.
(Helpful hint about posting pics: Create an account on a site like Photobucket and upload it there. Then copy the IMG code and paste it into your xmarks post. The pic will show once you submit the post. )

Oh, yes. I am aware of the Highland Games in German Park this weekend. My bride-to-be will be working this Saturday so she'll miss out. I am going to try and go, but I'll be on-call so I might have to split on a moment's notice. So I'll probably be in work clothes which (sadly) do not include a kilt. Besides, my outfit is too formal for the games. Perhaps I'll find some more daily-wear stuff at the games.
