A Newbie From Dover, Delaware
Hello all! I am a proud Sutherland, from Florida. I am a Military Working Dog Handler in the USAF currently stationed in Dover, Delaware. I have been a bit of a traveler in my life as I was born in Japan, and I have lived in England, Texas, Florida, Wyoming, and now Delaware. In the deep interest of purchasing my first kilt, I was referred to this forum by a friend that I met over here in paradise (deployed to the middle east). I would like to purchase my first kilt here very shortly. As it would be my first, I would like one that is made of my clan tartan and of high quality. My friend told me that there was no better authority on such matters than X Marks The Scot. I would also like to make my own kilts in the future. I am very happy to have found such a wealth of knowledge. My heritage is very important to me, and I would like to have something valuable to pass on to my son Landon. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read this.

Welcome from the highlands of Central Massachusetts. My advice from the outset is get the best quality you can. Getting one really good kilt of heirloom quality is better than getting two or three kilts of low quality - if what you are looking for is a good, traditional garment. Take your time. Look at a lot of fabric. Go to rental places and feel the fabric. Look at military and top-end "tanks." No rush when you're looking for a lifelong friend.
