    Newbie... That fits me

Well Im new to kilt wearing. I got a black original Utilikilt for christma. As far as I know I have no Scottish in me so I am unsure if I should even be posting here but oh well. I do have Dutch, Irish, and Swedish as far as I know. I've gone out a couple of times in it. Both times were great, I got the whats under the kilt question and some joking from my friends, but nobody else said anything.

Well a hearty welcome to you.

you'll find some others of us have little real Scottish blood.

Make you kilt a part of your normal wardrobe. Wear it with pride. You'll soon find out about the effect it has on women and you'll forget all about those other things.

Nevermore, the majority of kilt wearers aren't Celtic in the least... atleast as far as they know.

You're not restricted to wearing it to Irish Parades, Scottish Festivals or Rennaissance Faires, eventhough those are all good places.

Just enjoy the thing, and share your experiences with all the others that wear the "alternative" and modern kilts. I own them too!

    Dutch & Swede...

I do have Dutch, Irish, and Swedish as far as I know.
There is a tartan for people of Dutch heritage, the Dutch Mackay tartan, since one of the Prime Ministers of Holland in the 19th century, Baron Mackay, was also the Chief of the Clan Mackay:

The Mackay tartan is also appropriate for people of Swedish (and Dutch) heritage, since many Mackays served as mercenaries for the Swedes during the 30 Year's War:

The Mackays of Strathnaver are especially remembered for the famous "Mackay Regiment" raised for the service of the Dutch and Swedish crowns during the 17th century. As a result of this many clansmen settled in Holland and Sweden and gave rise to a number of noble families there.

I have a feeling the Mackays wouldn't mind at all if you wore their tartan!

    Welcome aboard!

    Cheers,

    Todd
