Newbie from Killie !!!
Hi All !!
I am a nearly retired guy who loves different tartans and whilst at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow on Saturday I saw a lovely tartan, which I now know as being an RAF modern tartan !!!.........so I will be nipping people's heads to try and find out how I purchase this kilt !!
But for just now, I will sign off and wait for my new online "friends" to contact me !!!
thanks,
Fergieboy

Welcome to the "Great Rabble!"
Advise that you start with a kiltmaker of your choice. They'll source the tartan for you. Any of our advertisers is a good choice; they've all received good reviews or they'd slink off in shame. My advice is to pick a reputable kiltmaker near enough to visit in person, and you'll get lots of other advice on that soon. Again, welcome!

Welcome from a Celtic supporter living in Upstate NY, close to the Niagara Border. An acquaintance of mine, retired RAF veteran himself & school-boy educated at the Dunblane School, wears this tartan in kilt. I will drop him an e-mail and inquire from Mr. Allan his procurement details. At the very least, it is a place to start.
I don't know if you follow Killie, but my father talks about their great former CB, Frank Beattie. Anyway, jeers on the 2-all draw at the weekend
'Til then,

Hi, Fergieboy, and welcome to X Marks from the bottom end of Africa.
The RAF tartan is a fine one, and I am glad you are keen to wear it. I just wish someone would wear the South African Air Force tartan some time . . .
Since you live in Kilmarnock, do you own a kilmarnock bonnet, or is that just something Lowland troops wear?
Regards,
Mike

Greetings from Alabama USA!
Noticing your location - the local pipe band here was started by a gentleman from Kilmarnock.
Ian Sturrock originally started the Ben Dearg Pipe Band in the 1960's, later named Heritage Pipes & Drums, and after his passing, they became the Ian Sturrock Memorial Pipe Band.
