Newbie - Newbie - Newbie
Greetings to the group.
I've been what you would call a lurker for a while and finally decided to become a member after much urging from Rufus.
Utilikilt Workmans is my cloth - since 2002.
I would like to venture to something more traditional but the expense is a tough one to overcome.
That's about it -- thanks for listening.

Welcome Ranger,
I'm not a utilitikilt wearer but there are many here who are...We do, however have Something in Common. "Rufus". You at least have met him. I have yet to have that pleasure

Hi Ranger. I too am a newbie. Got my first kilt a couple fo weeks ago - a UK Survival. The expense of a trad is off-putting and limiting, I'm certainly not rolling in money, but as I speak I am waiting for the arrival of a 16oz wool, 8yard trad which whilst costing more than my UK survival, didn't cost too much more. The trick? Second hand. Obviously it's not as nice as custom made, but if you can find one that looks like it will meet your needs and is in good condition then why not?
Check out the For Sale section...and talk to Matt!

Check USAkilts, Bearkilts and some of the other kilt makers in the group. I have a Hillwalker kilt from Alexis Malcolm http://tinyurl.com/4bu7n. Unless you are going for a full heavy weight handsewn (which I wish I had) you can get a very very nice kilt for not much more than a UK

Ranger...
Welcome, and I have to ask about your member name: are you a park ranger, forest ranger, US Army ranger, etc? I am a seasonal park ranger with the USNPS.
Cheers,
Todd

Welcome! You're ahead of me... I'm still trying to decide what will be my first kilt.
I'm such a poser... But I'm learning a ton here!

Yay! After hounding you for almost 1 year, I finally get you to join and start posting! It's nice to finally have someone else from the area posting on here. Can't let the BC guys have all the fun.
Since Ranger hasn't caught up yet, I'll fill in some details for him. He's been a good friend of mine for a few years now, and works with me (though he's too chicken to wear the kilt yet at work...brock brock brock!)
He's a former Army Ranger, and occasionally threatens to put me in Ranger choke holds. I have yet to experience the reality of the threats, though he'd probably argue that I do deserve to be put in one.
Ranger's a top quality guy that's been an enormous help to me in the past. He's been in the two short films I made, despite protests of not being an actor.
Great to have you here, Starbucks.
