A newbie from Texas
Afternoon, all! Nice to be here.
I confess I'm here for a particular purpose, and that is to do some exploration and gain some understanding of the Highland Games. Now, that exploration will absolutely be done in the wonderful attire that is the Kilt. I have to get mine lined up for my first games in April - so that'll be something I crowdsource opinions on as well. I'm 32 and, quite frankly, waaaay too small to be competing in Highland anything, and I don't know much about my heritage other than my ancestry is largely British, I guess you'd say.
Anyway, wanted to extend a hello to all the veteran Scots that are about and start my journey - learn the kilt, learn the games, maybe get some history lessons, too.
Stay frosty,
Miles

Well met Miles. Welcome to the journey that many of us wander about in. I will remain "frosty" until the Summer hits my Mississippi home.

Why wait for April. Come out to Fair Park for the North Texas Irish Festival this weekend. The Scottish village (clan tents) is in the Automotive building. While we don't have the highland games, we do have the clans, music and this year, Kilted Storm troupers.....
Several xmarkers (including myself) will be there.
