Newbie in the Upstate
Hi, I live in upstate South Carolina, having moved here from southeastern Pennsylvania last year. I joined the site in October, and I have commented on a thread or two. I've been reluctant to introduce myself, because I do not yet own a kilt. However, I am now almost there. Today, I drove up to Franklin, NC, and ordered a kilt from Matt Newsome. I ordered a 4 yard kilt with box pleats in the Stewart Black tartan, and in six months or so, I will actually own a kilt. I know the wait will be worth it, but I know I will be Jonesing before it is over. While I was there, I checked out the gift shop. I ordered a sporran, which should be ready before the kilt, and I scored a vintage, Geoffrey (Tailor) Argyll jacket in light gray, with real horn stag buttons, at a great price on consignment. Once I have the sleeves shortened, it will be a great fit. It was a good day to drive up into the mountains, which reminded me of western Pennsylvania where I was born. I think this is a great site, and I have learned a lot from reading the threads and the articles.

Hello and welcome from the highlands of BC. You know, six months is a very short time, especially considering the quality you will be getting!

My goodness you know how to start the kilted life! The Jones will be worth it. I have three Newsome box pleats myself.

Welcome aboard from your northern neighbor. I came by Spartanburg this evening. Did you wave at me?
I have a jacket and waistcoat at the Tartans Museum on consignment, and was hoping you'd bought it, but it's a sort of green color, not grey. And, Matt's making my third kilt!
Congrats on the order. You'll be very pleased with it.

Here's another welcome from just up the road a piece in western NC. You certainly are starting out right. Isn't the internet a wonderful thing? (well...usually )
