Newbie From VA

Just wanted to say hello form the coast of VA. New to the site with no Scottiish history but a long time Scot wannabe. I am in the process of finalizing my decisions reagrding my first Kilt purchase and would like some advice. I have narrowed my choice of tartans to Black Watch, Scottish National or Red Hackle. Since this is my "first" I want it to be special and something that I can build upon with different colors of hose and ties or coats. I know that this is a personal decision but would appreciate any sage advice or thoughts.

I love my black watch tartan and its a easy tartan to get matching flashes, ties, bow ties, jackets and more. Nevertheless, any tartan you find you love with have more options than youll know what to do with. The kilt seams to be an amazingly versatile article.

Welcome from Nokesville, VA and another non Scot. My first kilt was a gift and once the spark is lite wait for the fire to start. Less than two years and now seven kilts. Look for the good deals and if able do some stitching. I have a Black Watch but as you said it is your choice. I just got one of my top tartans Isle of Skye and need to finish hemming for it's first outing. Enjoy the fun and freedom.

Thanks so much for all of the feedback. Although I must make an initial choice my intent is to eventually add all three over a period of time. I can't wait to get going. All, thanks for the welcome and Chas, I live in Norfolk, VA so we have that in common as well.
