newly kilted
Hello all,
Just signing in here and making first post. I have to admitt I am somewhat addicted to internet forums.
I have recently took delivery of my first personal kit. It is a Sport Kilt in the Hunting tartan. I purchased this for hiking. But after wearing it around town I am really enjoying it. Since then my youngest 6 yr old has requested one and we ordered him a Stillwater Kilt.
I have rented an entire outfit for our old Fireaman's Ball which they no longer have, very disapointed about that.
Looking forward to the new attire. I am already eyeballing a second kilt. I do have a few questions; I have a brown sporan do the same dress standards apply brown belt - brown shoe or can I wear black shoes with the brown sporran? Secondly is it prtety much standard to wear the kilt hose or can I do as I please with socks and still be seen acceptable in the eyes of the kitled world? this being while being in casual attire, I have some hose on order for dressier occasions.
Thanks
BEAS

Welcome to the board.
"match your leathers" is the rule I follow whether it be kilted or not.

Welcome to the forum. The sporran, shoes, and belt should match, IMHO. I would suggest browsing the "Show us your pictures" threads for some ideas on hose and footwear.

Welcome. On the leather issue, it is actually traditional to wear a brown sporran during the day with black shoes (see below), so if you want to, go for it.

Best regards,
