Not certain I should be here, please read
I am asking myself what I have to offer you good folk. After reading thru many threads it's plainly obvious to me I'm more than a newbie, hey when it comes to kilts etc I don't have a "learners permit" in other words I know zilch. One member asked what color PC one preferred, I answered, purple, sheesh I thought he was referring to a ,wait for it ....personal computer , man did this Aussie lady feel STUPID & then some. I joined as many of my ancestors are Scottish, my surname is Cunningham, I've been researching family history for 10 years, that's my connection to this friendly & highly informative site. I feel possibly I'm letting you all down as I have little to offer as far as knowledge. I would dearly like to read your thoughts on this, as I feel somewhat saddened.

Dear Gayle,
Don't worry,
When I got here, though I knew how to put on a kilt I was ignorant of a lot of things. I am slightly more educated now and can talk all about jonesing for a PC, a Tank, and a Ryan Ross that I plan to Jock when it arrives..... Acronyms aside, this is a wonderful learning place. The people here can answer just about any question about kilts that you have.
Just stick around for a while and kilt happily!!!!

HI Gayle, first off welcome! I know I'm glad you found this place.
I am still kind of new at a lot of things myself, but there is much to learn from others here, and hopefully you'll also find this is a nice place to make friends and share a few laughs. If you get discouraged, remember we were all new once. Even the codgers posting from Scotland were once wee laddies, new to it all.
I think a purple PC would be rather smashing, by the way.

When I first joined, I thought "hose" referred to panty, garden or fire varieties. Some people (myself included) still misuse the word "plaid." If you're here with an open mind and a willingness to contribute or learn or listen or laugh, you belong. No worries!

Gayle, we all started out new. We all came here to learn. For one thing, I am sure that many here would love to see photos of the Aussie outback, your the only one that I know of that can provide that. As you settle into the forum, you will learn things and have opinions on things.
There are many people here that love to answer questions if you want to know something. To get some background on kilts etc. may I suggest you let you fingers do the walking on the computer and check out some of the writings of Matt Newsome, a member here. You can access his blog thru the New House Highland advert at the bottom of the page. Also use the search function of this site or just browse the old threads. It's great to have a fellow Aussie on the forum, so just take your time to settle in.

Gayle,
First of all, Welcome to XMarks. Second, you needn't feel as though you have nothing to contribute. Visit often, read, learn and take what works for you. You may discover clan members here, or learn about your clan tartan or possibly clan history. We deal in all things kilt-related. Again, welcome.

Welcome, Gayle!
Of course you belong here! Here is where I learned to be the amazing, handsome and dashing kilted gentleman I have become from the unlearned newbie I was several years ago (BIG grin). And made some good friends along the way. We discuss, dispute, and learn from each other here at breakneck pace, while remaining ladies and gentlemen, and having one heckofa good time doing so. Again, Welcome, and join the fun!
