Ok I Finally Posted!
OK I’m shy. Shouldn’t be at my age... I’m working on it. I’ve been a member (lurker) since 2014. Yes 4 years and this is my first post. However I’ve learned a tremendous amount of information. My wife has Scottish ancestry (Ramsay family traced to the Perth area - Unrelated DNA studies to Orkney and Northern Scotland - Norse I guess), I have none ( well 1% by DNA, must have been some pillaging).
My journey to this site started oddly enough with a castle conservation effort in Scotland. As a supporter they had a tartan available so I bought my wife a shawl and started our/her journey back. Then a Ramsay tartan skirt (Scotweb) for her. Then the Outlander series came out and with it a longing for her to reconnect and myself along with it. I decided heck I can wear a kilt too if I want and found this site. It’s still been a slow process. I commissioned a Semi Traditional USA kilt in Scruffy Wallace PV and 3 Ramsays for the kids, and simultaneously a Philibeg from Celtic Croft in the generic Outlander pattern (always along with some items for my wife). All wonderfully comfortable; I have yet to travel far from the house in them, but I plan on branching out. I have ordered or am in the process of ordering a 4 yd Box Frazier Red Weathered (Greene), and an 8 yd Weathered Lochaber (Tewksbury). I like to spread my support of artists around and at the same time get a feel for the subtle differences in fit and construction. Future projects include a visit with Howie at 21st Century for a modern twist and perhaps Stewart Rendall of Lochalsh when we visit Scotland this year.
Well once I start I do tend to ramble. There you have it - Mark

Hmmm...ramble you say? Must have something to do with the name "Mark". well, now there'll be two Marks with the Scruffy Wallace from USAK as I just got mine in May. I can tell you right now, you're going to love that kilt; especially in hot weather down south.
At a time like this one must ask themselves, 'WWJDD"

Possible Scottish Connection

Mark, you may be glad to know, you may have a Scottish connection yourself and may belong to a clan. Your surname is Thomas, and that could be a sept of Clan MacThomas. Have a look at the link below:

You're welcome!
