Rookie kiltie out of Rose City.
Salutations, world wide rabble of X-Marks the Scot!
I just recently obtained my first kilt, an Ireland's National Casual model from USAK, and it's an exra comfy garment made by Mr. Ian MacBride. I look forward to getting to wear it at great length for next weekend's crucial celebrations of dynamic proportions. I'm a bit moved at this point to share my experience so far wearing my first kilt w/ black tshirt for the first time during a stroll around my area in Pasadena, CA. It was a nice cool late afternoon last week and got a few little looks from folks, then about a block into it a teenager stuck his entire torso out of the passenger side window of a moving car and approvingly yelled "KIIILT!!!" Continuing on, I got to a crosswalk aross from a park where a woman waiting there instantly began blushing as she greeted my approaching person. As I crossed the street into the park, I couldn't help notice the same woman had been shadowing me about 6ft behind for a while before shyly asking if I was going to an event. I said I was wearing it to enhance the supurb weather that evening. As this woman I had just met went walking with me, she told me she was out walking around as a way to rehabilitate her body from the affects of Parkinson's and that my wearing a kilt was so unusual it made her day just to see it. Wow! Later during the stroll, a couple making out on the side of the path stopped what they were doing just to check me out (I pretended not to notice) and finally I inadvertantly forced some parents to do some fast explaining when their child asked why that man was "dressed like a woman" as I continued walking away lol. What a gambit! Sorry for the length, but I just had to share that series of events.

And how! Somehow I thought itwould take extensive wearing to garner those types of responses, but no, it was pretty immediate.
Thank you all for your welcomes, I look forward to conversing with and then possibly meeting some of you in the forseeable future.

I can't remember where I read it, but the saying that I remember that relates to your first kilted experience is this one.
"you can wear a kilt TO an occasion, and every time you wear a kilt it MAKES IT an occasion". LOL....
Personalty your first experience in many ways mirrors mine. Frankly I think that in your kilted debut you've added to humanity. It's my observation that people (most people) love the fact that there's some one (any one, and in this case YOU) who is a free spirit, confident, and (besides liking kilts) are doing just something (not conforming) that they wish they had the hutzpa to do.
I've found that when I'm out and about in a kilt that it seems to bring lot's of smiles to peoples faces. Including my own....... Congratulations on your first of what I suspect will be many great kilted
outings.
