Welcome Scibaer. You'll find a lot of good folks here from both sides of the pond. (And some from the middle or the other side of the REALLY big pond.)

Welcome to Xmarks. What a small world it is, my daughter was in Saltcoats for a couple of months in 2003 and we had the opportunity to go back with her for a couple of days during the holidays in 2004. It seemed like a very nice place. I'm glad you found your way here an I look forward to hearing more about you.

hi and thanks..
well there are about 1500 of us in ayr, the towns of ardrossan, irvine, saltcoats, stevenston and a few others including glasgow all have my macgregors living in them today.. a good lot of us are in contact, we mostly are 3rd and 4th cousins at this point in time. i hope you enjoyed your visit to ma wee hame, up in irvine my great x 4 grandfather ran the first private house ( pub and inn ) in scotland, then called the Shore Inn Private House, now called The Ship Inn, in 1830, and its still up and running. i waer my kilt with great pride and think back to then, remembering my family. my next purchase will be a kilt in the aryshire district tartan, there is a saltcoats tartan, but its not my first choice, lol .. i hae said to much i think, so thats all i'll blether on about for now, cheers

Thanks for sharing your story. Not a few of us have a similar story to tell of emigration to the US, although the dates may vary.
I'm a bit jealous of folk that have such a connection to their homeland, as my own is poorly documented back beyond arrival on these shores.
Cheers and welcome!
