Slainte!
Gents,
Great forum! I come to kilt-wearing from two directions:
-a life long interest in things Scottish. Got my first kilt, a Scottish-made trad 8-yarder in Black Watch, for my 40th birthday present from my family.
-historic reenacting, or "living history". In my `45 Rebellion reenactment group we wear historic Highland garb of the early 18th C., before it was proscribed by the dastardly English. So, if you have great kilt questions, I'm the one to ask!
Thanks for having me on board,
Brian

Welcome Brian - but do watch what you say about the English. I am one-quarter Scottish and three-quarters English. However, my Scottish bit is usually more powerful than my English bit ......but, not always!!

Ham,
I can only speak of the English that way because my ancestry includes a huge dose of English blood, too! (Not to mention Irish and Sardinian as well)Can't get much more English than "Carpenter", eh?

It's addictive already! I think kilts are like tatoos: the more you have, the more you want....

Brian,
It is always a pleasure to welcome a new member to the forum!!
It sounds as if you have a very supportive family especially if they present you a kilt for the big four-o.
Cannot wait to hear of your kilting experiences.
