Slainte!
Newbie from Los Angeles here. I had to throw my own Robbie Burns Supper last year when I couldn't get a large enough table at the Tam o' Shanter. Decided that I need to dress the part this year to be a proper host, so I just ordered my first kilt - a Stewart of Appin Muted (1842) tartan - from MacGregor and MacDuff.
I'm leaning towards a Contemporary Jacket - a little more subdued than the Prince Charlies and perhaps a bit more versatile, and wearing a solid color cravat under the waistcoat.
As far as a sporran, I ordered the Calder sporran from McRostie. It looks like beautiful leather and craftsmanship, and again, a little more understated than the traditional dress sporran.
I'd be delighted to receive input from the veterans here.

Hello, Patrick. Welcome from a Scotsman living in the English midlands.
I do like your choice of sporran. I don't go for the overly ornate ones, but that's just my personal taste (experts may disagree!).

Well met Patrick. It sounds as though you have everything organized and in its place. I agree with a more subdued sporran as a starter (if a final purchase). Maybe there is rent/own store that has a more formal (horse hair possible) sporran for the Burns supper. I haven't kept up with your weather (L. A. in the fall) to know if a Saxon jacket will be to warm (thinking tweed).
Glad to have you with us.
