"Great health to you every day that I see you and every day that I don't"
Hello to all from Idaho. I just came upon this sight and it looks like there is a wealth of information to be found on here and I'm looking forward to learning and sharing. A little bit about myself... Years ago I got involved with a student organization at Boise State University that existed to help promote Scottish culture in Southern Idaho. At the time the only event that existed was the long running and popular Robert Burns Supper held by the Caledonian Society. We had a dream to expand and bring other events to our valley. We started out with concerts and Ceilidhs. We brought such acts as Darby O'Gill, Andy Stewart and even Battlefield Band. It was a lot of work. We held these events in the hopes that one day we could get the interest and the money together to start our own Highland Games.
In the late summer of 1998 we finally had our first Games held at Les Bois Park. Our dream finally came true. Now eleven years later the Games continue and grow more and more each year. Since the humble beginnings of the Scottish American Society of Idaho the Scottish culture has grown in leaps and bounds. I'm proud to say that I was able to be a part of getting it started in southern Idaho.
I have a wonderful woman in my life named Bonnie and we are getting married next spring. We want to do it up right and have a Scottish wedding. I hope to find out some great information on hear to help with our planning of the wedding. So if any of you out there have great ideas to help us out, please share. Thank you all for all you have done to bring a site together like this to help and share with others that have the same mind.
