Soon to be newly kilted in Illinois
Greeting All, my name is Lew. So a few weeks ago a friend of mine suggested that I wear one of his kilts to an event we were going to attend. From the moment I put it on I knew i was hooked. My family has been able to trace our roots to Clan Macleod. For many years I have admired the tartans of my family's homeland I just never had the nerve to put on. But the reception I received while wearing it was truly awesome. I now find myself in the market for my first well made kilt. Christmas is right around the corner and I have already told my wife all I want is a well crafted kilt. I will be placing my order most likely with USAkilts in the next few weeks and then counting down the days until Christmas morning. I want to thank everyone on this site for all the information I have already been able to glean from you. Btw...pics of my new kilt will be up December 25th. I can't hardly wait

Greetings Lew, and welcome to X Marks from lower, slower Delaware. Thank you for sharing your first experience in a kilt; that was a wonderful story. As many of the rabble will attest, when you finally wear one (not just put one on), you get the whole idea of it, the comfort, the feel... you're hooked.
We will be looking forward to the Christmas unveiling. (For many, the day they get their kilt feels like Christmas no matter the date.)
Glad you chose to join the XMTS rabble and look forward to your involvement.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle.
