Tartan design enthusiast from upstate New York new to X Marks the Scot
Greetings to you all from snowbound upstate NY. For the past month or so I have been designing tartans on the Scotweb Tartan Designer. Ever since I was seven years old and a classmates father (who happened to be a native of Glasgow) came to school with a collection of kilts and Highland accessories I have been fascinated with traditional Scottish garb and have wanted a kilt. Even though it was 1964 and I lived in a fairly conservative rural area it never occurred to me that he was wearing a skirt. I just thought it was cool.
Here I am, 45 years later, and I still don't have a kilt, but I am determined to have one some day. My budget is tight and I'd rather not settle for a cheap one, so I guess I'll be waiting for a while yet.
Since I joined Scotweb I have been designing several tartans a day and have been loving it. I've made some friends there and have enjoyed trading comments and suggestions about designing with them. It was suggested to me that this might be a worthwhile site for me to share my enthusiasm, so here I am.
If anyone is interested in checking out my designs my user name there is the same as it is here and you can pull them up in the advanced search field of the designer. I'm sure most of you know how to find the designer, but just in case, here it is: [URL="http://www.scotweb.co.uk/tartandesign/"] . There's some stuff I'm not thrilled with there, but there is much more I am pleased with.
