it's been nearly three months since i registered on xmts and a fruitful three months it has been. coming here in an attempt to gleen any small bit of knowledge en route to replacing my family kilt, i got information in droves. good, reliable information. for someone at the mercy of complete strangers, this was amazingly comforting and satisfying. on top of information regarding kilts and accessories immediately associated with kilts, there is an amazing source of kilted fashion guidance as well as a wealth (in the true meaning of the word) of ancestral, historical, cultural and travel information and some pretty good craic off the topic of kilts involving family, music, movies, food, drinking, etc...

in these three months i've picked up one casual kilt and obtained my 8 yd, 16oz family tartan kilt (pleasing my family to no end) and i'm on my way to picking up some smart accessories (hoping father christmas gets me sorted for a sporran...).

a big thank you to the founders and organizers of xmts, all of the users who so patiently and generously responded to basic questions, the amazingly talented crafts people who share the fruits of their skilled labor with this community and all of the users of xtms in general for posting such entertaining and informative entries each day. special thanks to socalferg for inspiring me to go all out on the 8 yd kilt and to rocky roeger for pursuing his dream that has lead to his amazing profession and shop, and for delivering my premier kilt in time for what has thus far been an excellent christmas season. just this weekend alone i will be kilted on saturday at my daughter's school christmas festival and later that night for the annual christmas party for my football club (piss up, anyone?) and then the neighborhood christmas party on sunday.

thank you, one and all for making this an interesting and satisfying journey. looking forward to 2009. best wishes to all this holiday and for a happy, healthy and successful new year.
