Hey guys. This forum is an area for new members to make their presence known. You dont have to personally welcome everyone you see signing up...They will get active if they feel it!
If we do that we might be posting a lot of dead posts...
We said it is exactly the warm welcomes that drew us in and got us started posting. Thank you for responding..

Before you go running off, maybe Hank had a reason for doing what he did? I don't want to get involved in a debate on moderation or anything of that sort, but I also don't wish to see anyone feel unwelcome and leave. I hope this can get resolved, and that you still feel like this is a place you can belong to.

John, I've also had a few posts deleted. I haven't always agreed with the reason they were deleted but have had to accept that hank does it in the interests of decency, harmony and friendliness here.
No one is perfect, Hank may make mistakes. If you disagree with his reasons - speak to him, by chat or PM if you like.
I don't feel any less welcome because of deletions, and I hope you won't either.
It's good that you mention this, instead of just going

JohnAllen,
I have really enjoyed reading your posts, they are very thoughtful, and I would feel an emptiness in you not posting again. In the brief time here, you have brought such good thoughts to this forum.
I too feel that way at times, but things are not perfect here, we are all humans with human frailities. Sometimes when I post the response may not be what I intended and the topic goes into other directions, that I may not like.
We are all different with different thoughts and ideas. And I would not change that in anyone. I'm just here to enjoy, learn and have some fun with others that may or may not agree with me, and in fact I can find something I disagree with for every member on this board (including myself).
So please consider this my aplogy if I did not make you feel welcome.

Hello JohnAllen,
On the subject of the deletion of posts and over moderation of the forum... I agree with you. (I don't think that will be a surprise to anyone who has been on this forum for a while, but I just want to let you know that you aren't alone)
One problem with over moderation is that problems aren't solved when we are forced to ignore them. They will just reappear later and be deleted again.
There is a lot I would like to say on this subject, but the popular people on this forum don't like it when I speak my mind and if I continue, it will likely cause this thread to be frozen or deleted. (I don't think your original post that started this thread is the type of material to get a thread frozen or deleted.)

Well said Glen, you have a wisdom, maturity and understanding we could all learn from.
I will add that I consider Hank to be very impartial in his moderation of the board.

The reason I deleted those posts was b/c they were posted under the announcement. I put the announcement there for people to read. I thought all of the posts under it were unecessary. Dont take things so personaly guys! Come on!
Announcements from me are not meant to be responded to. Just start a new thread. No big deal. Sorry to step on toes but I have space issues and clutter issues that I have to deal with as the Admin.
I like all of you guys (even you Alaskan!) so dont get your panties in a wad. You wouldnt want to live in a cluttered house would you?

PS- John Allen, I tried to move your post, as you saw, to a more appropriate thread but I messed it up on accident. When you do that in a database the info is gone. When I noticed it was screwed up I just got rid of it. It wasnt anything personal.
Sorry for not explaining myself. But seriously folks you have got to stop being so sensitive. We have lost a few members (RIP: Celt and Robbie) over silly things. I dont ever delete posts just b/c I dont like someone. I am very utilitarian and methodical in my moderating. I do what is best for the whole board.

Hank

I am not stirring the pot.
What are the rules when it comes to deleting a post? Who decides if a post is not good for all the members to see? What kind of notification is there if your post is going to be deleted? Is there any discussion or the final word is the final word? Are there any MODERATORS for the topics?
It sad I have to ask this but this is a problem that arises when you have a large collection of individuals with opinions and strong personalities. Some of what I read rings true to me and I am disappointed not to have the full stories. All this seems to be hiddens in the dark with little references here and there but no total truth.
I say lets debate it as we have other less sticky issues in the past. What is the complaint....what is the response and finally what do all the members think
Chris
