A very late intro
Hello,
I joined xmarks last summer, about the time when I started wearing the kilt. I even posted a few threads here and there. Well, I just received a notice that I haven't posted anything in awhile and I got to thinking: I haven't even introduced myself to everyone.
My name is Eric and I live about an 45mins east of Chicago. I've been wearing the kilt as much as possible since last summer. I bought an acrylic kilt for a warrior dash event and I've been hooked ever since. I received my first tank (Lamont mod) with a little help from friends and family (birthday present, I said I just wanted money) but soon realized it was much too nice to wear daily. I bought a very nice P/V (Scottish National) soon after that and wear it very often, knowing I don't have to baby it like my 13oz 8ydr. I am now waiting for another p/v, this time in 8yd black watch tartan to the stripe. I know some people here think 8yds is overkill, but I love the feeling of the weight and swish of all the fabric gathered in the pleats.
My girlfriend now says I'm obsessed, I call it a passion. My father and his family moved here from scotland when he was 13. He's since become Americanized but my grandmother is scots through and through. My mother moved here from the Phillippines when she was 6, so now I've earned the nickname "Contradiction" from my friends. I've learned so much since being on this site that I can carry on a very knowledgeable conversation about kilts and scotland in general. Thank you everyone for contributing your own knowledge to this site. Who knows, maybe in a few years men will pull their heads out of their butts, get tired of 'adjusting' themselves in ill fitting p@nts, and realize that the kilt is truly the way a man is supposed to dress.
Eric
