A Wee Story
Hello from suburban Philadelphia. I’m newly registered on the forum but I’ve been lurking around the site for quite some time. I’ve had a desire to wear highland attire since the first time my father took me to a parade and I stood, frozen in awe, at the pipes and drums coming down the street. My heart was pounding, I could hardly breathe, and had tears rolling down my face. It was like a freight train had hit me square in the chest. I didn’t understand that emotion then but now, some thirty years later, I think I get it. It turns out my surname is part of Clan Grant and it must’ve been that highland blood boiling up in my veins. That same feeling still hits me today and, though I never acted on that desire to wear the kilt until now, I’m enjoying my journey of discovery into my heritage and highland dress, and look forward to being a part of this community as well. Oh, and I’m lucky to live less than ten minutes from USA Kilts which is a Good thing, but could turn into a very, very Bad thing!
Cheers!
Alan

Fantastic! Great that you have found that you can get and wear the kilt. Welcome to the forum from the highlands of Central Massachusetts.

Hi, Alan, and welcome to X Marks from the bottom end of Africa.
I had a similar experience seeing a pipe band playing when I was little. And then I got to march to the accompaniment of a pipe band when I was in my regiment. What a thrill!
