Last year my first kilt was the 5.11 Tactical Duty Kilt. It was a riot but later got me into the real thing. However, their website advertised that it featured hidden interior pockets...Never did find any on mine. I sent an email asking if this feature was only on their previous models from the year before, no response. This year, I get ready to order another in a new color...Low and behold, their newly designed website page goes advertising the hidden pockets again. Am I truly inept at finding these pockets or are they using the wrong ad copy?
I got my two 511's. Gave them their first wash and dry - this is ripstop poly/cotton. These 32 pant size are still a tad loose on my 33 kilt waist and actually measure 34.5 inches post washing. The length shrank from 24 to 23 3/8. Am hoping that this material behaves like Utilikilt's ripstop Poly/Cotton and will lose a total of 1 inch in the waist 1.5 inches in length, over a few washes, putting the hem at the bottom of my knee cap. Feeling a little Goth right now. With the 8 inch wide box pleat in back, I doubt this puppy will ever know a swish but maybe a waggle. Not bad for a $80 durable utility kilt with slash pockets. UPDATE: Two more warm ( 105 F ) wash and dry cycles for both kilts.. One warm tumble dry and one hang dry. The hems are now 22 7/8 and 23 inches. Goth-ism is now reduced to acceptable. Noted that these have less wrinkle-age and fabric is more pliable with the tumble dry. Will cold tumble these for 5 minutes with my dozen tennis balls to fix that. Just noted: I posted on the wrong string. The current issue TDK has two side slash pockets and two cargo pockets. The slash pockets aren't exactly hidden but not obvious either. There are inner pouches in the removable cargo pockets attached inside each on the back fabric panel. All 5 inches deep. One pocket has two sections that are 3 3/4 wide, the other has 3 that are 2 1/2 ( clip sized ?) wide.

Now that's what I call a hidden pocket. One year on and it has yet to be found. I'm not sure what you would put in there, but it sure would be safe!
The "hidden" pockets are inside the exterior side pockets. If you unsnap the pockets and hold them up and look inside, you will see one pocket has 2 "divisions" inside while the other pocket has 3 divisions. Due to forum policies, I am not allowed to divulge the REASON for these "hidden" pockets, but know they are there. The quantity of pockets are as follows: (2) interior pockets (similar to pants pockets) (2) exterior removable pockets (the ones referenced above) (5) "hidden" pockets made into the (2) exterior pockets. Having had my 5.11 for over a year, I can tell you I have used the 5 hidden pockets for their intended use and they perform perfectly.

They meant THOSE pockets? The diagrams seemed to indicate they were inside the waistband or in the inner lining. Those particular pockets also saw use on my TDK, they do indeed work very well and also come in handy for organizing my female friend's belongings when they're in costume.
yup. Them pockets. I have used them for their intended purpose as well as other items. I know the travel size gold bond powder fits perfectly in one of those divisions.
