Amerikilt?
Just a quick question...
Those who have purchased from Amerikilt, what is their typical method of communication? I ask because I've placed an order, and I'm aware of the 3-4 week lead time, but I've not heard anything from them. The only correspondence I have gotten has been PayPal's confirmation of payment and the completion of transfer of funds.
Do they typically email a tracking number when the order is shipped? Or does your new gear just show up on the doorstep? Just wanted to be forewarned in case I needed to ask the neighbors to watch for the big brown truck.
Thanks!

I've had a similar experience with them.. Just give them a call or send them an email. They will typically respond quickly..

My AmeriKilt showed up about on time, perhaps a few days ahead of schedule, certainly before I got worried; well within the time frame they gave. When I had to communicate with them (I was unsure of my choice, but the friendly barstaff at my local talked me into keeping it) they were prompt with an email response. I would suggest email as a primary contact. From what I have heard and read AmeriKilts prides themselves on customer service (as well they should) and would probably be happy to give you a tracking number if you asked for it. You never know untill you ask right?

I will just chime in that AK seems to take the "no problem, no message" approach.

No biggie. Was just wondering if I needed to have the neighbors watch. We're in a pretty good neighborhood full of retired folk (we're a good 25 years younger than the next youngest people on our street), so there aren't any worries. I just wondered if they would contact me prior.
I'm antsy, but can deal with it. Anticipation is part of the excitement.

When I ordered three at a time Mike called me to thank me.
I don't allow shipping via any method that leaves packages on my porch for kids to steal - that's UPS and all air freight in my town. Fortunately, the USPS doesn't deliver mail in my town so we all have POBs and that keeps packages safe.
But in the UPS/USPS wars (like coke and pepsi - so silly) some folks refuse to ship via the USPS. In that case I have them ship it to my work...irritates the staff, but keeps the goods safe.
Have had stuff stolen off my porch before when abandoned there by the carrier...but not kilts. Would be fun to watch the theives open a package of kilts...

There is a wonderful scene playing out in my mind of some young men stealing your package and opening it up to discover....
1st Thief: Dude it's a skirt!
2nd Thief: Is there any thing else?
1st Thief: An invoice! Dude this skirt is worth $400!
2nd Thief: Cool let's sell it.
1st Thief: Are you stupid! Who is gonna buy a $400 skirt made for a dude!
2nd Thief: Well...he did!
1st Thief: Great. We can sell it to the dude we stole it from.
2nd Thief: We could keep it maybe...it's expensive...
1st Thief: Dude you gonna $!@#^&*! wear a skirt!
2nd Thief: I've always been partial to plaid...err..I mean no.
1st Thief: Let's just put it back on the porch and pretend this never happened
1st and 2nd Thief: DUDE!!!!
Cheers

The folks at Amerikilts are awesome when it come to customer service...even after I made a couple of changes to my order. They called me to confirm the changes and they still managed to get it to me in the original time frame. I will order at least one more Kilt from them and probably more than that before it's over. You will be very happy with your kilt from them. I wore mine to compete in the Highland Games and got a lot of compliments. You made a good choice! What color did you order? My first one was black and I am kinda waiting for more camoflage options to order again....but the khaki is looking pretty good.

I know that they are quite busy right now, so it may take awhile to get an e-mail reply. I have 5 AK's. All have been delivered within the time frame or earlier.

I know how you feel. I was getting antsy for my last AK and hadn't heard anything. So I e-mailed Mike asking him when to expect it. I heard back from him the next day telling me my kilt was due to arrive the following Thursday or Friday. Sure enough it did. I'm pleased with their customer service.
