Black Workmans UK Fading
I just bought my first UK the other day and after the first wash "cold water & line dry" it came out pretty faded, and not just faded all over but more like circa 1985 "acid wash". I knew it would fade I just didnt think after the first wash it would look like this... This is a picture after the first wash.
Thanks

Sorry to hear about that, it looks very different now, I really don't know what you can do about it, perhaps it could be dyed not sure though.

Well, you could contact them. I am not sure how they represent the colorfastness of their kilts, as I seem to recall that they tend to wear and become more distinct. Otherwise, dyeing it again my help.
And WELCOME, from Fairbanks, Alaska!!

I sent UK a email this weekend but havent heard back from them yet,,, but i was thinking of dyeing it too but thats alot of scratch for a kilt that you have to dye back to black after the very first wash... Im thinking like a bad "dye lot" or something???

Is it faded, for-sure???
I don't mean this to sound glib, but I have occasionally had a problem when laundering a dark fabric, of detergent staying in the fabric and leaving just the sort of random lighter areas seen in your photo. You might try putting in the washer again without detergent and using cold water run it through the complete cycle again to see if that evens things out a bit. Just a thought.
Good luck to you.

Well, something is not right there. I've washed my black workman without any radical change in color. Did you send the picture to UK? Hope things work out for you.
Best regards,
Jake
