Bought my husband his first modern kilt!!

Back in October, we went to Stone Mountain Highland Games and it was my husband's first time wearing a kilt (1740s great kilt). As we don't see kilts where we live, EVER, he was very apprehensive. But meeting up with other kilted gents and discussing it, he decided he liked tactical kilts and the casual tartan ones.

So, as time has passed and we just never got back around to getting him one, I figured it would be a great surprise for his birthday today! I bought him the 5.11 TDK in dark olive (photo attached), and it should arrive today via UPS in just enough time for me to get home and wrap it. Wish me luck!! I hope he loves it and feels manly and tough!!

5.11 kilts are nearly indestructible. I wear them to work (im a contractor ) . They wash well. Just do not use fabric softener. It ruins teflon coating. They seem to be cut a little small.

Can we see the outcome, please?
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Sorry that I haven't posted an update yet, I couldn't figure out how to resize the picture on my phone so I had to upload it to the computer. Aghh!! LOL

So, he was very excited to receive the kilt!! Which made me very happy. In fact, he was so excited that he put it on right away before I had a chance to press it, along with the shirt he bought at SMHG. And now he's looking for every opportunity he can to wear it, even just around the house.

    I'm one lucky lass!!

What a sweetheart! Nice, thoughtful gift. I have the same kilt. I'm sure he'll like it. But you might have started something that is going to cost you a few bucks. On the other hand, the shorts budget will be a lot less.

First, I see you're new- hello from Alabama and welcome to Xmarks! I'm sure you'll love it here; I do, and I'm a woman among mostly gents

He LOVES it. Wears it every chance he gets. Kilts are never seen around here, so his friends look at it funny the first time they see it but now, after they are used to him wearing it and raving about it, they want one of their own!

I found him a nice camel hair wool coat the other day at a thrift store and he said he needed a proper tartan kilt to wear with it. Yes, I forsee this costing us some money- but there are worse ways to spend it! I'll never argue with him over him wanting to wear a kilt. I'm beside myself that I actually got him into it.
