Cargo kilts in the 'right' shade of green

There are many cargo kilts in olive green, and at every Irish festival I see at least a couple of guys wearing them. I always tend to think that if they could have got them in a more 'Irish' shade of green, they would have done so, but this has always been a problem in the past. Sure, there's the Amerikilt (and always a booth selling them, too). No doubt a fine garment, but it has a back pocket and a front pocket (the 'cloth sporran') but no side pockets. I never use the back pocket on my trousers, and the point of pockets is not to have to deal with a sporran bouncing about in what I always feel is an awkward place.

However, two different vendors have recently introduced within a short time of eachother cargo kilts in shades of green that actually look like you're wearing of the green, rather than wearing military fatigues minus the inseam. One is Tartanista and the other is KiltMart. I think I will be buying one or the other, it's just a question of which one at this point.

I have previously bought various kilt accessories from both these vendors before, just no actual kilts, and had no real problems with what I bought. A shirt I bought from KiltMart was made of a cheaper and tackier material than I had realised, but perhaps I didn't read carefully enough, and I bought a belt and buckle from them which were good quality. I own a sporran that I got from Tartanista which I am very happy with, although it's a knockoff of someone else's design.

That is a nice shade of green. The one from Tartanista comes in different lengths while the one from Kiltmart is only 24". Tartanista claims to be cotton drill and Kiltmart says polycotton. Kiltmart is a bit less expensive and you might be able to get a discount if you sign up for their newsletter.

OR..... you could find some cotton/poly twill, or a hemp/poly twill in a shade you like and make one.

Have you looked at the hemp army green Rkilt? I have one. Terrific hard-wearing and very functional. www.rkilts.com.
