    Fabric Softener for Workman's UK?

Anyone used fabric softener on a workman's UK? (Caramel Duck) I love the kilt, but even after 3 washes it's still stiff as a board...

I know that that fabric needs a lot of washing before it loosens up. But I am not sure about fabric softener...

I use fabric sofener on my cotton kilts all the time. Works fine. When I make a new kilt out of heavier cotton fabrics I soak the finished kilt in fabric sofener and water for a few hours then wash it.

My Caramel Duck Workman's kilt is now coming up for four years old, and my thoughts are that it is the wearing rather than the washing that softens the fabric. OK certainly washing helps, conditioner too to a minor extent, but it's wear and tear than has the greatest effect. Persevere!

    Thanks to all!

I'll probably use a little softener in the next wash, as well as keep wearing it as well.

I have a Jacket made out of the Carhart material tha i used when i was working outside a good amount and I have to agree with Hamish wear it as much as posible and it will soften up. I never used softener on my jacket but after 3 Colorado winters wearing it everyday hiking up mountains to cellular (mobile) phone sights it is nice and soft now.
