It's here! It's here!
Excuse the exuberance from this excited newbie...
...my StillWater Black watch kilt arrived today!
Amazingly fast service.
Rushed upstairs, right after work, passing by my puzzled daughter, to try it on.
Alas, it was a bit too big in the waist (actually, when I think about it, that's not such a bad thing).
Otherwise, was pleased with it, considering the cost.
It's about 1/2" to 3/4" too long, but my Mom is an excellent seamstress, who can rectify that.
Have ordered a smaller replacement, and will be returning this one.
So they waiting begins, again...

Nothing like the adenalyn rush brought on by the arrival of a new kilt.
I still get a bit giddy when a new one shows up.
You're gonna love it when the new one gets there, and, yes, they do things very fast at Still water.

Congrats! Before you hem it, make certain you couldn't just wear the kilt a little higher to account for such a small change in length. You may have already considered this but would hate for you to alter a kilt, then post a pic and have everyone say it's too short or you're wearing it too low . It's been known to happen

Thanks for the advice!
I will do just that.
Will probably post a pix, and let the more educated critique.
I wear kilts with top-of-waistband across my mid-navel.
The kilt I'm returning (aside from too big in the waist) was just at the bottom of my kneecap.
(my other kilt goes to mid-knee, and does not touch ground when kneeling)
I'm 5'10"; from what I understand, Stillwaters are made to fit 5'11" - 6'0", without alteration?
Judging from what I've read in the VOLUMES of info here in the forums, I want to shoot for mid-knee to knee-top, correct?
It's also possible, with a better fit, it may hang a bit better, too.
Any critique/advice is most welcome

There are so many variables that go into how tall a person is. You may have a long torso and short legs and be 5'10 - 6' (That's me) You may have a short torso and long legs and still be the same height though your navel will be at a different position than mine. All that to say...
I'm 5'10" as I said above and the 24" fits fine on me.
If the top edge of your kilt is center navel, I think you should be able to come up a little. I think I wear mine about an 1" over my navel and it falls at the top of my knee cap. Having the kilt up that high will feel odd at first but it won't take long and it will feel just right as well as look right.
The 24" length can look odd if you try it on without a belt or with a very narrow belt. You'll put the kilt on and all you will see is 24" of tartan that will make your upper body look short and stubby and your leggs hanging out the bottom look even shorter. As Doug Henning used to say, "It's only an allusion!" . Put your belt on and sporran and that will balance everything out visually. "Looking good Lewis! Felling Good Billy Ray!"

That just may work for me, then.
And, yes, I do feel my wide belt & sporran help balance things out, a bit.
Thanks again!
