Mossy Oak UK Original NWOT

Got lucky on Ebay again. I spotted this Utilikilt Original Mossy Oak Camo 32 L ( 24.5") and snapped it up at the "Buy it now" price of $99. These were last made in 2006 and is 100% cotton. Made before their QA totally to h e double L. It was well stored and never worn - I love it when people don't follow measuring instructions. Their loss is my gain! By catching it before bidding started I probably saved $65. They became popular after UK discontinued them. Another marketing fubar by UK. The gal that built UK marketing and thus UK had left at this point.

For the first time I shortened a UK hem to my prefered 21.5" length. About 2 hours, cropping, picking out an inch of sewdowns, edging ( binding? - zigzaged the cut edge so it would not fray), ironing new hem, stitching new hem, ironing the bottom pleat edges and resewing the pleat edges in. My job is a lot better than the original and way better than the crops UK does - I open and edge down the two fabric seams so they are straight and easy to clothespin for the hang dry and don't tryto do a side step on the inner pleat edges at the hem. I have no idea why they joined the fabric panels right on a knife edge. I have to force these pleats to pin the outer edges for drying on the rest of the UKs. Tossed in washer, hang dry and is as you see it.

My big suprise was how much fabric is involved in making a 32 inch waist Utilikilt. I measured the cut off hem and added 1/4 inch for each still sewn pleat edge and 1/2 inch for the edge hems and fabric joints. and came up with 13.5 feet or 162 inches or 5 times the waist size - WOOF, I was guessing about 3 times - LOL

That's a nice one. I've been tossing around the idea of getting some Mossy Oak and calling it Pennsylvania Hunting modern.

My skewed kilt jumped out at me this morning - Aarg. This is why I have to use wide belts snugly. No **** to stop the rotation. Can't see it because it's camo?
