Ok I ordered one.
I ordered a utility kilt off ebay, just a cheapie but to try it and see if I like it. It's just for lounging around in, working and taking the dogs to the loo as opposed to long walks where I prefer tartan but worn in a contemporary fashion. My wife may get me a 5.11 tactical kilt for yule. Any comments on the 5.11?

I'm not sure how it has changed from the initial offering a couple of years ago, but I have one of the 5.11 kilts and it rarely gets worn. I like some of the features such as the pocket designs. However, the material is far too light for my tastes for one, and there are not nearly enough pleats for my taste. I occasionally break it out on hot, muggy days when I go for a hike, but that is pretty much all. Well, I do wear it around the house quite often because the lighter material is a bonus in that regard, but that is about it.

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds ireal for hot summer days indoors, which is how it would probably be used. Thanks.

Good on ya. Looks like you finally pulled the trigger... May you wear it well, and keep us posted on how you're finding it.

I'll be buttoning a 5.11 in few minutes to go to work at the sporting goods department of a Walmart. I love my 5.11s especially all the pockets they have. Even wear them during the winter. They are a big hit with the ladies and the bubba's, btw.

It'll probably arrive while I'm away visiting family in England, so I'll let you all know once I get back and pick it up from the post office. If I'm lucky my USAK Celtic Nations casual will have arrived by then too.

Winter here is still cold, most people don't realise but especially when its been 122f in the summer. I want to wear a kilt all year round but most of what I have I've bought with warm or hot weather in mind.

The 5.11 is now my go-to utility kilt for really hot weather. Its light weight is perfect for the job and beats the snot out of wearing shorts.

Well that didn't work out. The kilt got lost in the post and I got a refund. The 5.11 tdk was only £15 more so I got that instead. It was free delivery within the UK, so as my wife is working over there, I had it delivered to her, so it'll be another couple of weeks before I get it.
