    Pleat Inserts?

On a contemporary, edge-stitched* kilt, how do the pleat inserts work? Does this make the construction of the kilt significantly more complicated?

As context, in another thread, we were discussing a kilt that would have different, solid-colored pleats, as opposed to a tartan kilt pleated to the sett. In other words, a gray pleat, a white pleat, a red pleat , and a green pleat, all solid colors, then the colors repeat, or something along that line.

    * Edge-stitched, meaning both the front and back edge of the pleat are stitched to hold the edge.
    Thanks.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
