or alternatively any other recommendations for similar,

No experience with either vendor.
The concept has an eerily weird appeal. Owning several solid colour cargo kilts, they are tragically tres' useful and utilitarian. In all likelihood, one of those travesties of a tartan cargo-hybrid will end up in this collection.
Fully expecting a whomping from the kilt kops. Truthful-hopeful defense is:
* The kilt is ENORMOUSLY alive and well with likely more sales and owners than ever before in history.
* The kilt is an evolving garment currently made in cuts, fabrics and styles the "traditional" (Scottish Highland last 2 centuries) world has never known.
* The "kilted look" is an evolving series of "fashions" rooted in the traditional but also acknowledging the kilt's informal nature as a daily and workman's garment.
* "The "utility" kilt is a practical and useful garment certainly "equal in use" to chinos and jeans
* The "utility" kilt is currently being made in solids, camouflage, leather, combinations of fabric...
...why not tartan?
Let the beatings begin.

Though they weren't the first, Sportkilt.com offers the options for pockets etc. on their tartan kilts. I guess people see what they think is a good idea and copy it. I can't say that I like it personally, but to each their own. I do hope they don't catch on too well though. I don't want sporrans to become obsolete.

Reason: My time line of pocketed kilt development has been graciously corrected.
Keep your rings charged, pleats in the back, and stay geeky!

I just compare it to the Sport Kilts Ultimate Kilt which cost $169,00€ tailor made with cargo pockets. The only justification for the price tag ist the wool acryl mix, cuz they look like as if they were made by UK Expo or similar.

We have made tartan kilts with what we call "ninja" cargo pockets. It takes a good amount of extra work but in the end you end up with all the carry capacity of full size cargo pockets with the only visible sign there is a pocket there is the 2 1/2 pocket flap. If I can find the picture of the last one I made I'll post it.

I do like the pockets on the bilt kilt, I'd just prefer knife edge pleats, I'm actually not bothered about concealed pockets, in fact I'd prefer if they were on show as a feature.

If people don't mind the visible pocket then that's easy peesey! And we'd even make sure that it looks good as that's juts the type of fella's we are! LOL
