Photo Journal for Kilt Kamp 2016, Victoria, British Columbia
Kilt Kamp 2016 starts Friday, August 5th, at 8 am. Kampers will be showing up starting at 12:30 tomorrow morning (I will drive to the airport to pick that Kamper up). We have books and handouts and fabric here at Freedom Kilts (where it is being hosted this year), ready for everyone. Tomorrow morning we start disassembling the shop and setting up tables and chairs. Baking has started and we have stocked up with Howe Sound Brewery Scotch Ale!
Photos from the Kamp will be posted in this thread over the course of the next week. Here is the first, showing some of the handouts.

Now, every Kamp has at least one "chuckle" moment, and this one has certainly started off with a bang. One of the eager Kampers showed up at the airport in the home city a day early. I don't think that Kamper will ever live it down! We refrain from identifying that Kamper so as not to compound his embarrassment.....!

Kilt Kamp has started!
Steve with the Contemporary Kilt students. The tartans are Patriot and XMarkstheScot.
Kevin and Harlan are already at it!
Barb with the Traditional Kilt students. The bright tartan in the foreground is Buchanan.

The first day of Kilt Kamp is winding down (although some die-hards may still be stitching away for a few more hours).
MaryPenny and Steve taking measurements for a kilt.
Barb and Brenda looking at pleating options for the Nicolson tartan.
Part of Barb's "stash". Apparently she brought six kilts to work on while here.
The tartan tights have not been awarded to anyone, although there have been some suggestions as worthy recipients! Here they are resting next to a circular sock knitting machine.
Harlan and Chelsea pondering some stitching....

Lucky Kampers!
It seems to me that there is some seriously good pleating going on in the City of Gardens. Well done Kampers!
I know that you will take away plenty of good learning from Barb and Steve's teaching, and enjoy Bobbi's hospitality and infectious good company. I really hope that Victoria BC is showing you a beautiful face, and for those of you who are going to (or maybe have already) take some time touring around that corner of the continent, I wish you many happy miles.
But clearly I'm looking forward to the pictures and the stories of Kilt Kamp 2016, and the photograph of my successor in the terrible tights!
Best wishes to all,
Ian

I have attended Kilt Kamp in the past. This is a great opportunity for all of you to learn a traditional and contemporary method of kilt making. Wish I was there with all of you. Have a fun week!

Alas, Ian, someone in the Kamp (! Horrors) has hidden the tartan tights. We suspect one individual "He who cannot be named" but won't accuse without proof.....
