Anyone have the Rob Roy black sporran?

Being a mechanic, money has gotten harder to come by so I have to spend my shillings wisely, I am in need of a casual day sporran and like the look of the black Rob Roy sporran, does anyone have one in their collection? Is it a decent piece? I love the look, love the fact that it is made here in AZ as well.

I know it is pretty inexpensive at 55 clams, but as I stated earlier, I try to make every penny count and cannot afford to waste money on "cheap", but I cannot justify dropping a hundred or better on a day sporran.

So are there opinions? Rocky....rabble.... sell me on this one, I like the look, it appears to be on the supple side, should I pull the trigger or save a few more coins for a better model?

$55 is a good price. Which maker are referring to?

Sounds like a Buzz Kidder to me. You won't do much better on price or quality. I owned one a while back before my tastes changed. It was worth every penny.

Yeah, that's a Buzz Kidder, I have two of their sporrans. They are roomy and well made, an outstanding value for the money.

So is it a fairly supple sporran? I am looking for something that doesn't feel like it is crafted from an old dry saddle.

Yes they are crafted from fairly thick, soft leather.

Buzz Kidder sporrans are a great value. They aren't the cheapest out there, but they make a perfect first day sporran for the new kilt wearer. The great thing is that they will hold up and look great long after most of the flimsy cheapo "first sporrans" new kilt wearers buy are discarded.

There is something be said for spending just a little more to get something that will last

As noted above the Buzz Kidder sporrans are roomy and made of thick supple leather.

I have a "Loch Ness" model that my lovely F-H.C.A.G. gave me for Valentines Day years ago and it still looks great after heavy use.

    Cheers

This is exactly what I am seeking, a decent stepping stone of sorts, not a cheapo that will irritate, my current cheapie was a hand me down from a fellow brewer and the tassels drum on the drumhead like stiff leather, the finish seems to be flaking off, and the stitching is coming undone. Time for the scrap heap and on to a better sporran.
