It took me a lot of time and deliberation to decide on the tartan I wanted for my first kilt, then more time to decide on a kilt maker. I had already been in communication with Rocky at USA Kilts and found that my questions were answered so promptly and completely that the first impression was a very good one. I checked out the reputation of the company, both online and with people within the piping community. USA passed with flying colors. Then I saw one of their kilts in person, brought in to a pipe band practice by a drumming instructor I'm acquainted with for me to see in person. SOLD! The workmanship on Andrew's kilt had me.
I was absolutely not disappointed. When my Douglas Grey arrived, I was in love. It didn't fit quite right (I'm "fluffy", and not an easy fit in the hips) but all it took was an email and a few photos sent off to Rocky so he could see the issue, and it was fixed, easy as that. It now fits perfectly, it's beautiful, and was well worth the time I took to make up my mind. Rocky was great to deal with every step of the way. Emails were always answered quickly and completely. I'm now waiting on a custom sporran from R.G.Hardie (the one FMM wore at World's last year) to go with it - a Christmas present from the Hubs. I'll post some pics once I have everything together.
In the meantime, I'm in the process of fundraising. I'm hoping to be able to use Rocky for the kilts we need for my pipe band. I'd love my entire band to be able to wear kilts of this quality.
