    Braveheart Tartan Great Kilts

    Hey Guys,

We've FINALLY gotten the source for the "Braveheart Movie Tartan" (what Mel Gibson wore in the movie) and are making up a few "Great Kilt Kits". We're going to debut them at the Celtic Fling at the PA Renn Faire this weekend, but we wanted to give XMARKSers a shot at picking one up first in case they sell out...

Here's the deal... the "package" will include a specified length of material (see below), a 2.5" wide leather belt and a "Wrapping and Wearing the Great Kilt" booklet (instructions and color pictures included). Prices are:

$240 UP TO 34" Waist Package: 4 yards of material, size Med belt and booklet

$290 UP TO 44" Waist Package: 5 yards of material, size Large belt and booklet

$340 UP TO 49" Waist Package: 6 yards of material, size XL belt and booklet

If you'd like to add a Highland Shirt, Celtic Knot Sporran and Sporran Hangers to the Great Kilt Kit, we'll offer them at a PACKAGE PRICE of $105

While we will PROBABLY be offering this after the festival (on a regular basis going forward), if you want on and don't want to wait, let me know before we leave tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.

BTW... here's a couple pics of Mel Gibson in the movie:

We JUST got the material in and I won't have a chance to take a pic of it until after we get back from the festival this weekend, but it's the exact same material (just less "movie blood").

Is the blood an available option? Or do we provide our own (or someone elses)?

If Kelly and I have our normal "festival fights" (moving the whole shop and setting things up in a field can get heated), we may provide our own. ;)

Since I have a 38-40 waist, it make me feel great to know that I fall between a medium and a large!
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!

I dare say that if I returned home with one and informed the wife of how much I had just spent for it, the blood would be readily supplied!!

That is not to say that they're not worth it! Just a bit out of my league right now, especially since I'd qualify for the $340 model.

    Rocky,

Is this tartan available in other kilt models? (I did a quick scan of your site and didn't see it -- unless it's the Warrior tartan.)

No, it won't be. While the material is high quality (and high priced) the material falls into the "looser weave" category and is not condusive for stitched kilts... only for Great Kilts or Ancient Kilts.

We ARE trying to get rid of some "old material" that we don't use any more... we're going to have 1 "Dress Gordon Blue" model great kilt for sale. It's 5.5 yards (enough for a person up to 48") or a loosely woven cotton material and comes with a thick leather belt and the same "how to wrap a great kilt" booklet. THAT one will be $99. If that's more your speed, let me know as I only have 1.

Also, if anyone wants to buy the "Wrapping and Wearing the Great Kilt" booklet separately, it's available for $5 (plus $1 to ship it).
