    Freemason Tartan

I looked through the tartan galleries on your website and couldn't find any masonic tartans. Is this something that you can order? I can imagine many masonic brothers would be interested.

This comes up from time to time.

Calling a tartan "Masonic" does not make it so and even should it have the agreement of a Grand Lodge (such as the Utah one for example) it is not binding upon any Mason under any other Grand Lodge to accept it as the Craft Tartan.

This is the Grand Lodge of Scotland's view upon the matter - http://www.grandlodgescotland.com/in...=266&Itemid=29 and they might just be in the right place to speak with authority on the subject.

Another interesting thread with examples of tartans designed for Masonic use can be seen at http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...-tartan-75210/.

Looking at the part of the forum that this was posted in (USA Kilts), I would presume that the OP is not just looking for examples of masonic tartan(s) or histories thereof, but simply asking Rocky if he could order one as it is not in his (Rocky's) "stock" list?

I can definitely get the Grand Lodge Masonic tartan in 16 oz wool (roughly $360 for a 5 yarder or $555 for an 8 yarder):

I am reasonably certain I can get the Universal Freemason tartan in 13 oz wool (about the same costs as above):

NEITHER of them are available in PV material. I tried to get permission to weave the Grand Lodge tartan in PV, but was refused.

Thanks Rocky. You have, as always, answered my question perfectly. I may have someone interested in ordering either one of those. If my friend is interested, what would the lead time be?

I spoke with my buddy and he's definitely interested in the Universal Freemason tartan in 13 oz wool. He's looking at a 5-yard. We might be coming in on Thursday.

    Rocky, you... um... Rock.

When I've completed the diet to my satisfaction (hah!) I'll be calling you for one of those.
