    German National

    Hey Guys,

I promised myself (since I'm mostly German) that if a customer ever ordered a German National kilt, I'd go in on the material since I had to have it custom woven anyway.

Well... today was the day. A customer came in and ordered it. I wanted to know if anyone else wanted to get in on the order for either material ($65 per yard) or a kilt from us.

If you DO want the German National, call the shop ASAP and let me know. We're placing the order tomorrow morning. 610.935.3444

Here's a link to the pic of the tartan:

    Rocky,

I have several yards (I have to check exactly how many) of German National tartan that was woven by Lochcarron in 13 oz wool, 54" wide. $65 per yard. Might save you some time and trouble. PM or email me if you are interested.

    Rocky,

And here I was hoping you somehow conjured a PV source for that!

I really really wish I could at the moment, but last month has strapped us and we're waiting for the tax refund, most of which I've been ordered to not even think of earmarking for any kilt-related reason. I apparently have to wait until SheWhoMustBeObeyed's birthday in April before I can start again.

    Drat!

Add another half Deutsch to the list of "would'a, should'a, could'a". I would normally be interested myself, but resources are strained at the moment. Darn!

    Hey Matt,

Thanks for the offer. How many yards do you have?

I think that we're probably going to have it woven so that I can get the exact colors I want in it... going for a brick red (yellow based red vs. a "purple based" red) and a specific shade of yellow.

    Rocky,

I'll see what is left on the bolt when I get in this morning, but I'm thinking it is 10 or more yards, double width.

If it means anything, I have this cloth on consignment from Doug Ikleman, who designed the tartan. He commissioned its weaving from Lochcarron. So these are the colors that the designer had in mind.

Also, just FYI, Lochcarron has on hand about 17 yards (if I recall correctly) of German National *ancient* tartan -- apparantly a mistake from Doug Ikelman's original order, where they used orange in place of red. Doug sent it back and got it woven in the correct colors. So if anyone is interested in a German National in the ancient colors, its an option.

    Rocky,

Looking at the picture again, it shows a little brighter than the actual cloth, in my opinion. I think the stock that I have might be the brick red you are looking for.

I can send you a wee cutting if you like....

Where else, or in what other industry other than kilt making and at XMARKS would you see two competitors, with one offering to sell his competitor materials, and even offering to send a free sample to see if it is right. You guys are the best.

Mac, are there any pictures or samples available of the ancient GN?
