Good Service All Around!
Hey all,
So as many of you may have seen, I am new to the forums but also new to owning a tartan kilt. As of almost a week ago, I received a long anticipated order that I made through Rocky and USA Kilts and have loved every bit of my order! I'd like to throw in my own two bits here on what I received and give my gracious thanks and kudos to Rocky for a job well done! (I also apologize if I may come off a bit long winded, too many years of writing elaborate essays and thesis papers for school will do that >_< )
First and foremost of the purchase was the kilt itself. I may have gone a bit beyond what I should have, but after reading many of the rave reviews about USA Kilts I couldn't resist myself from spending nearly a year and a half saving to afford such a wonderful piece! I ordered a premium 8 yard kilt done in the Jones of Wales tartan (to which I have ties through my mom's side of the family), going off the idea that this is something that if need be could be dressed down but would also be something that I could have for some of the more significant moments in my life (such as once I finally decide to get married). After receiving the kilt in the mail I immediately tried it on and spent whatever time I could for the next few days wearing it around the house to get a feel for wearing it. I can now definitively say that THIS is my favorite and most comfortable article of clothing I own (a place once saved for my Utilikilt). Heck, if I could get away with wearing it at work I would most likely do so. I also ordered this with the matching flashes, which Rocky managed to pair to a "T".
The second part of my order was some of what I thought to be the bare essentials for the piece, which included a sporran, kilt pin, and a nicer set of hose. For the sporran I went with the Celtic Knot Day sporran. I chose to go with the day sporran as I figured it would be the most practical piece for how and when I would wear my kilt at the present time. It does a great job of housing all the items I carry with me on a daily basis (which usually includes a 3DS XL at the current time). For my pin I had to go with with Welsh Dragon 2 Color pin, as most of my celtic lineage originates from Wales. For hose I went with the standard Bottle Green hose.
As with any review I do, I must always include some concerns, but in this case I am not necessarily worried about either. First is the hose, I ordered the largest size available mostly for the fact that I know I have large calves, but even still they seemed tight to me. I expect that they will stretch out with time, so again, not exceptionally worried. My second slight worry is on the belts/waist orientation for my kilt. Rocky makes it very easy and clear on how to measure for sizing in the kilt, and when I prepared my measurements, I had both my mother and grandmother assist in taking the measurements (both came up with the same measurements). When I wear my kilt it does fit me properly (snug but not bindingly tight), but this tightness is obtained when all the belts are cinched up to the tightest belt hole. Again, I don't really see this as a problem because I tend to stay pretty stable in my weight, but I do wonder what I would have to do if I ever did lose a few inches...any who, back to the celebratory beer to keep up that waist!
All in all, I don't know if I can properly express how happy I am with my purchase! Thanks again Rocky for making the ordering process so smooth and for all the great work! I look forward to ordering more in the future ^_^ (I will get around to posting pics in the proper thread eventually and also posting reviews to the USA Kilt site)

Great review. I like USA Kilt's stuff too, having ordered two kilts and two vests in the past 4 or 5 months. Right now waiting on the 2nd vest.
I had no idea what a 3DS XL was. Had to google it. There's a bunch of us older rabble here that would not immediately know what that thing is or was!
Generally there are 5 holes in each belt, I think an inch apart (I'm at work, so can't check mine). Kilts are generally tailored so that the belts should fit just right on the middle holes. You cinch them tight when you lose a few pounds, use the outer holes when you gain a few, like after the holidays. I went from a great fit on the middle holes to a great fit on the next hole out for the Burns Supper. I am starting to lose waistline again, and by summer will be back to those middle holes.
Best of luck to you!

And for some of us, knowing that a sporran can fit a 3DS XL is a perfect way to convey size (and a great recommendation! They're not small!)

Also Llama, for what it's worth, in anticipation for receiving my kilt, I ordered a custom skin for my 3DS XL in the same tartan pattern...so that way I will match while I get my kilted mobile game on!
