Help me decide, please????
Sometime within the next two weeks I'm going to be placing an order for two kilts with Rocky. The first one is going to be a semi-traditional German Heritage. That much I've already decided and not going to change my mind. It is for the second one, the casual one, I am soliciting opinions on.
The two finalists are the Warrior and Holyrood. Getting both is not an option, it is simply a case of one or the other, not both. I've seen postings that Warrior looks much better than it photographs, so my question is, the purple more of a blue based purple (think Minnesota Vikings color) or a red based purple.

Warrior
USAK customer gallery shows a couple of photos of warrior and it looks to be to the blue side
I have a USAK casual that I really like but if I was to do one thing differently it would be to pay a little extra and have the bottom edge hemmed (there's no selvage edge with PV). It is a great kilt for super casual wear but the frayed/fringe look at the bottom is not something I would wear in any but the most casual settings. Again, its is a great kilt for its intended purpose, but would be much more versatile if it were hemmed, IMHO
Best of luck!
Good luck

I don't know what kilts you've already got in your stores, but Holyrood would be a nice contrast to German Heritage to my eye. Holyrood is in my wish list one day and I must confess that the Warrior tartan doesn't appeal to me much.

I vote Holyrood. I think it's a much nicer tartan.

My Warrior casual seems bang on purple, not shaded towards red or blue.
I've yet to get an accurate photo of the color. Camera seems to make it bluer and the black sinks into the purple in the camera eye. It is a real purple, black, and white though.

The Warrior is Dark purple, DARKER purple (almost black) and white.

They're both really nice and I'd try to get both in my inventory, but I'd go with the Warrior tartan mostly because it's not seen quite as often. Plus I like the name. And if you're man enough to don a kilt, you're more than man enough to really rock all that purple!

I think that a dark purple kilt would be cool. I like the name of it too, "Warrior". Purple and white, just like Iroquois wampum belts. Sweeeet!

I love the Warrior, and I love the Holyrood too! I've never seen the MM Holyrood in the fiber, though.
To my eye, the Warrior's purple is just on the blue side. It may be that the darker purple (the "black" stripes) make it look more so.
In my photo here, you can see that the tartan is a close match for the T-shirt (Northwestern U purple), and the Lewis hose appear just a shade more red. I'm not saying the color reproduction is the best, but that approximate difference in shade is pretty accurate. Ron has a photo that looks similar, where he's wearing the purple hose---you might compare with the same hose and Isle of Skye in his photo album.

I'll vote for the Holyrood. I just think it is a nicer looking tartan.
