New Ferguson Weathered Ordered
catching up with rocky at the bethlehem pa celtic festival yesterday, i was measured for a new ferguson weathered kilt. random thoughts:
- it was a stunningly beautiful day and the festival was mobbed
- the usa kilts stall was full of activity. hoping the till was bursting by day's end.
- after dieting and exercise over the summer, i was pleased to hear rocky's announcement of my measurements; i've lost four inches off of my waist.
- as the ferguson weathered tartan is only available from lochcarron, i am spared the decision of which mill to choose from.
- i can now put twice the nail biting and wringing of hands into laboring over the pleating decision...
- amazed at how many kiltwearers who otherwise looked neat and proud still insisted on wearing their kilts WELL below the knee. noticing things like that make me even more conscious of how i was put together and i felt almost silly wearing a smart, short sleeved shirt for the heat of the day...
- mixed "celtic" festivals are a true visual hazard: you run the spectrum from really well put together traditionalists to your knuckleheads running about in a red sox hat and a "kiss me, i'm sh!tfaced" tshirt...

Congratulations on the results of your summer exercise program and the new kilt that is coming.

Today I saw a guy sagging a UK. The waist was literally halfway down his butt!

I will be very interested how the Ferguson weathered comes out and how Rocky pleats it, as I have been wanting a MacLaren weathered for some time. The only difference being we have a yellow line instead of your white one. Hope your jonesing goes quickly.

cheers, dk.
the ferguson weathered pleated to the red stripe can be seen here in a typically beautiful barb tewksbury kilt

while the kilt in these photos is pleated to the vertical red stripe, it's the horizontal themes that stand out visually for me. i'm still leaning towards pleating to the sett. it's a difficult call...
like the maclaren, this will be a very functional tartan in terms of the wide variety of color schemes that can be followed, depending on the event to which it will be worn.

Irish,
My weathered is pleated to stripe (vertical white). Not sure if I have any pleat shots. I'll check and see.
