Oh no! Another great vendor! USA review

In search of moderately priced, good bang-about-kilts for games, fishing, hiking etc, I FINALLY had the opportunity to check out USA kilts. I've been intriqued by several posts here regarding their fabric, service and I have to admit, Rocky always seems to be very helpful in his posts here.

I ordered an 'off the rack' casual in Ireland's National tartan. I went for the off-the-rack because of the price, availability, size and since I'll be throwing cabers and stones in this, a custom made kilt wasn't all that neccessary.

Here's the picture capture of the tartan from usakilts.com:

Here's the kilt as delivered: (Sorry, family photographer not available--had to take a snap while the kilt was on a hanger)

I was very fortunate that he had something very close to my size in an off-the-rack. I'm a 37-41-21 1/2. The kilt I bought is a 38-42-22. No problem with the extra room, as I stated--this will be worn for very active endeavors.

First: Service. What can I say? Rocky ROCKS! He was very helpful and punctual in response to my questions. A few emails to verify size and availability and one phone call to order the kilt. A few days later, it arrived.

Second: Material. I have a number of Sport Kilts, so I thought I new what to expect from a PV kilt. Ahhhhhhhh this kilt feels a bit more 'dense' and strong than the sort of 'cotton' feel of my SK's. Could be that most of my SK's have been beat to tar. But I think that this material could be something I could REALLY like for casual kilts.

Thirdly: Construction. I would have liked wider belt loops because most of the belts are larger, but they ARE available in any non off-the-rack kilts from Rocky. The underapron does NOT hang out from the over apron! Great--in a casual kilt. I'm not a big fan of maker's patches etc on my kilts, and again, this was off-the-rack and came with a USA Kilt patch on it. No bother at all, for what this will be used for. I also like a strap on my hip and will simply add one to this kilt.

Overall comment: Oh--no! I think I'm hooked! I know I like the construction of this kilt and I love the tartan. I see a few other tartan's Rocky has available and I think I'll be calling to have one made up. For an off-the-rack kilt, in my opinion, this is a great kilt for the price. To fix the things I'd rather have, I have the option to get: larger belt loops, made to size, no patch (if I choose) and perhaps moving up to a semi-trad.

Final word: Great kilt for the price and availability! I plan on beating the bejebus outta this thing!

    Thanks Rocky!

As far as the USAKilts patch, those are just stitched on and may be removed quite easily.

Any of Rocky's made to measure kilts are a joy to wear.

I have a MacNeil tartan casual that is undergoing severe beating at this time and still looks great six months later.

I wear it for running, at the gym, shopping, working in the garden and for getting beer spilled on at punk concerts. Through the washer and hung on the line, and back for more beating. Love the kilt.

Great Choice! I received my first USA Casual a couple of months ago (mean to post a review and pics someday, really I do).

Construction is great and the fabric is fabulous. Now, if I can only lose weight, I'll have a decent excuse to replace my acrylic kilts with USA kils.

    Wear yours in good health,
