Overdue praise for Rocky and his kilts
I bought a Premier pub kilt package (8yard kilt, ghillie shirt, sporran, belt, hose & flashes) from USAkilts back in April. While entering in my measurements online, I screwed up and put my hip measurement in both "waist" and "hip" dialog boxes. I received this wrongly-sized kilt and the rest of the package in June, a full two weeks earlier than promised. After a few e-mails and phone calls, we discovered where the screw up happened.
Despite it being my fault, Rocky took back the kilt and made me a new one in the correct size, at cost. There were a few hiccups along the way: My fiancee initiated a dispute with the credit card company over the wrong-sized kilt which had to be smoothed out, the fabric I wanted wasn't available from the mill for the do-over so Rocky had to find a replacement. He warned me that since this do-over was a courtesy, it would likely be later than their usual 6-10 week turnaround, and that was before we hit any of those other bumps in the road!
I received the replacement last Monday, a full month earlier than I was expecting. I'm not sure if Rocky planned for the kilt to arrive on my birthday, but I wouldn't put it past him. The workmanship is fantastic, and I'm continually bowled over by their customer service. Every step of the way, Rocky was calm, obliging, and patient, even when he had no reason to be. He's made a customer for life!

John,
Happy belated birthday. I have heard lots of good things about Rocky and his folds at USAKilts. Congratulations on getting the entire package. I only ordered the kilt, a sporran, and hose. I hope to get the rest later. Have a great year to come!!!

BadenochWolf,
Indeed, Rocky & Co. continually exceed expectations on every front. I too am a customer for life.

It is great to hear of excellent customer service and fantastic that it has all worked out well in the end for both parties, provided of course that it leads to more orders in the future.
The only area of curiosity is that is it not a wee bit unusual to have waist and hip sizes the same? Should alarm bells not have rung? I may be quite wrong, this is not intended as any form of criticism, just curiosity. There is 8" difference in mine and whilst that may be extreme (large bum), I would have thought identical dimensions unusual. I'm sure some of the kilt makers here will be able to clarify the issue.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Having a waist and hip the same size is NOT at all uncommon. In fact, we occasionally get belly measurements that are BIGGER than the hip measurement (when a 'larger gent' has a big belly that sticks out in front and is cursed with the "noass atall" disease).

My apologies for not including pics. I had the misfortune of choosing between the kilt rig and a decent digital camera. The lighting in my place does not make for good images on my phone, and the weather precludes anything outside just now except a wet wear-test. I'll update with pictures the first chance I get. I did manage to snap one picture wearing the kilt Thursday last. It was a gloriously cool morning, so I put the top down on the convertible and turned up the pipe bands. Sadly, the a bit of kilt and sporran are the only pieces of the package visible in it.

Huh. The image appears right-side up whenever I open it on any of my devices. Does anyone know what causes it to flip 180* when uploaded?

Yes, I can easily visualise that, then the waist measurement becomes irrelevant. Must be even more tricky when there are protrusions front and back because the waist measurement would not necessarily reflect that and could of course be the same but with the extension in the opposite direction.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
