It´s here
My new Irelands Natiolan Semi-trad kilt!
And it is beautiful:
Great fit
great feel,
great colours!
But
Great taxes! I piad 78 Dollars = 61 Euros tax on it .
Sometimes I hate my state!
Just one little thing: The black thread on the white stripe is not what I expected!
But pics will follow for all to see!

You will really enjoy this kilt, Hermann. I know I do. In fact, I like my Ireland's National from Rocky so much that I am finding myself putting it on every morning without thinking about what kilt I should wear for the day!

I think you will find it is much the same across Europe, Hermann. That is about what it would cost here in the United Kingdom too.

Do you mean the black stripes alongside the white ones? They have been there all along! This tartan is not the same as the Irish National, and that confused me when I first had my kilt because I had not noticed the difference between the two tartans. Nevertheless, I still love this kilt so much that I have just ordered two more semi-traditionals from Rocky ('Caledonia' and 'Prince of Wales**') which he will send to me whilst I am in California! To avoid paying our import taxes, etc.!!!!
Looking forward to seeing your photos.
** I am thinking that this tartan will be perfect for the beautiful kilt-pin you sent me for my Birthday, Hermann. Since it is white, I have been waiting for a darker tartan on which to wear it.

No, I mean the black sewing thread with which the kilt is sewn. When this is done on the white strpies it doesn´t look that good!

The two things that really sold me on USA Kilts were taking the time to match the belt loop tartan to the kilt tartan. Talk about a high class touch!
Ron
That was one of the things that made me order the kilt!
Sadly on mine the loops da not match the kilt tartan, one of them brings the orange stripe to an early end several inches from the waist band.
Not something I would have noticed two years ago but after two years on xmarks one begins to notice even small things!
But It still is a wonderful kilt.
I will wear it when my irish folk trio "Carolans Nightmare" has its first gig in November!

I noticed the Caledonia "semi-trad" tartan (sorry for going off topic a bit) from USAK is somewhat muted or ancient...compared to the Lochcarron Caledonia (modern) tartan....very nice!
A few questions about these "semi traditional" kilts...
How is the swing? Will the pleats stay in shape? Are these kilts pleated like traditional kilts...nice deep pleats? Is the fabric suitable for cold and windy weather?
I really NEED (ahum.. ) more kilts and I'm a sucker for tartan kilts, but I hate rubbish (****-non-quality-non-kilts)...quality is important to me.
I now have 6 "tanks", but I just can't afford to buy them in the pace I did before...the treasure chest is pretty much empty right now, so a couple of affordable tartan kilts would be nice
I think I already know the answer (Rocky would never sell trash)...just to make sure

Would a rave review by Hamish convince you?
